Miller was born into American parents living in Rome, Italy. Her father was the editor of The Olympian, a Washington-based newspaper. Following her graduation of Tallahassee's Florida's high school she began her study at Boston University. Later, her studies were transferred to Rhodes College and University of Florida. From the time she was a kid she loved performance arts and took classes in dancing and acting. After college, she moved from New York to Angeles, where she began a promising acting career. Her debut film was a short film called Lucy's Piano in 2006. Following her role as Alice McKee, in Blood: The Last Vampire fantasy action movie, Blood: 17 Again (2009) she played in 2009's 17 Again. Her major TV breakthrough when she starred in an important role in the television series called Kings in the year 2009. Also, she played major parts as a major character in Terra Nova Go On and Selfie. She has played a lead role as a lead character in A Million Little Things, the family-oriented drama.
